Andie has written up this fantastic review if the Psusennes documentary for anyone who missed it.  It tells the story almost as fully as the documentary itself.  21st Dynasty Egypt is fascinating.  The wealth of Psusennes I who ruled only Lower Egypt suggests how wealthy Karnak must have been at the time.

I believe that this documentary stated that the lid to the stone sarcophagus had come from the eldest son of Ramsis II as in KV-5. Any one else remember that or am I dreaming again?

I don't remember or I would have added it to the summary - but having said that I may well have missed it whilst clicking away on my keyboard Do let me know if it was in the documentary and I'll add it. Thanks! Andie

There are three sarcophagi of Psusennes. The lid of one was originally made for King Merneptah, one cartouche not being erased on account of an oversight. The third sarcophagus of Psusennes was not intended for a king and the texts are typical of stone sarcophagi of the 18th Dynasty. The figure on the lid is wearing an ordinary wig without any royal insignia, but it is unknown who he was.

Dennis, I don't recall it being in the documentary (it was weak on the artefacts found in the tomb - and gave almost no information about the tomb itself, despite showing shots taken inside it). However, I think Marianne has given a much fuller answer than the documentary anyway.

Sorry all. I think I know what happened. I thought I heard 'oldest son of Ramses II'. Sorry for the mix up. - Dennis
